Proofreading | Editing | Copywriting
 Tailored to your needs.

Kat Taylor

You've put your heart and soul into that book; if you're hoping to publish your work you'll want it looking its best. Whether it's proofreading that you need, or a full edit, I'm here to help.

Academic proofreading

I know how hard you've worked on your research; don't let simple mistakes and inconsistencies distract your readers from your work.

English as a second language

Things don't always translate perfectly from one language to another and that can be misleading to the reader. Let's straighten things up so your readers can concentrate on your content.

Your website and marketing materials are your shop window to the world; make the best first impression by getting them word-perfect. If writing isn't your thing, I can help there, too.

About me

I am a qualified native English proofreader, and copywriter based in Sheffield, England, with clients all over the world. I have over ten years' experience and have helped clients all around the world in commercial, academic and publishing backgrounds.

I began proofreading in 2007, gaining a distinction from the Publishing Training Centre in 2012.

As a published author and experienced marketing manager, I understand how important your project is to you. I'm passionate about helping my clients to reach their full potential by providing a thorough and comprehensive proofreading and editing service, as well as copywriting where needed.

I have worked in marketing and communications roles in commercial and education settings, as well as on a freelance basis, since 2002. I have set up and edited numerous magazines including a quarterly magazine for the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sheffield, and city magazines in Liverpool and Sheffield. In 2017 I was asked to write and publish a book celebrating 100 years of Mechanical Engineering in Sheffield.

In my free time I am a collage artist, I write and illustrate storybooks for children, and read anything I can get my hands on.

About me

Kat's work with one of my students was a godsend.
He had a bad experience with a previous 'proofreader', which made Kat's work stand out even more. Her effort in not just correcting spelling and punctuation, but in also trying to understand nuances of context and meaning, meant she made a real and tangible difference to the quality of his whole thesis. I'll certainly be recommending her to other students in the future!
